Active Outreach Committee Report
The Assembly will be start at 8am on Wednesday 30th of September, in order to feel refreshed we enourage members to arrive Tuesday 29th of September in the late afternoon or early evening. The assembly will finish around 4pm on Friday 2nd October 2026. Convention will then start on Friday 2nd October 2026 in the early evening and finish no later than 2pm on Sunday 4th October 2026.

Our committee began its work with great creativity and enthusiasm under the leadership of our Chair, Kaveh, from Iran. He reached out to interested newcomers from Afghanistan and Tajikistan who speak Farsi, initiated contacts with Turkish members, and explored possibilities for expanding outreach to Turkish-speaking communities. Another idea was to organize our efforts by geographical areas, such as the Nordic countries, as we previously did with the Mediterranean countries, as well as Africa and Asia.
Unfortunately, the “outside issue” of the war in Iran affected all of our members there, including Kaveh, and had a significant impact on the work of our committee. We decided to wait and see whether the conflict and Iran’s online isolation would end sooner rather than later before electing an Acting Chair. This delay weakened our committee and clearly demonstrated the importance of having a Vice Chair in every committee to ensure continuity during unexpected situations like this.
Following the Region 9 Spring Assembly, we elected an Acting Chair, and our committee has gradually begun to regain its momentum. We are currently planning two workshops:
- The Power of Us – a workshop in German for German-speaking members, bringing together members from Germany, Austria, and the German-speaking part of Switzerland, planned for October.
- Tough Questions: The Superpower of Service in Region 9 – a workshop scheduled for September.
The Active Outreach Committee remains a work in progress. One of the greatest strengths of our committee—and a source of hope for Region 9—is that we survived this difficult period. We believe we will emerge from these challenges stronger, more united, and even more committed to carrying the message through service.
Above all, we are deeply inspired by the unwavering commitment of our Iranian members to the Twelve Step program. Despite the unimaginable circumstances they are facing, they continue to hold their meetings and serve with remarkable courage and dedication.
