Committee Report – Translation and Interpretation

The Assembly will be held on the 18th of May from 2 pm to 7 pm UK time

I am extremely grateful to those who proposed me to serve as the Chair of the Committee. The Committee began its work after the Region 9 Assembly in Athens.

We are a group of people who are eager to serve and share strength and hope in the area of translation and interpretation. We began our work by determining the tasks that the Committee should undertake.

Committee meetings are held every third Tuesday of the month and are scheduled in advance. During the committee meetings, we have initially planned activities for the upcoming period. In the near future, we plan to organise translation workshops for our committee. The Region 9 Trustee Liaison has agreed to lead the workshop for us. Later, as a committee, we would like to prepare such a workshop for the entire Region 9. We are also planning to organise a joint meeting with the Virtual Region to discuss their experiences in translating meetings and workshops organised in the virtual space. We want to draw on their experience to utilise the possibilities of both simultaneous and Closed Captioning translation during our workshops and other Region 9 meetings. We would like to be ready for the first translations by the end of September at workshops organised in collaboration with the Active Outreach Committee.
