I can bring the following business, professional or other experience, and skill to the board
I have worked with platforms such as Google Workspace, Google Drive, Zoom and Google meet,
WhatsApp communities and email distribution systems. I bring a willingness to learn, work with and
support others. I can work alone but also work well with a team. I bring good organizational skills to the table and enjoy structure and accountability. As I work out my program I learn to listen and have a servant heart. I believe that my skills can be a asset to the board and the OA program in general.
I would like to be a member of the board for the following reasons:
I would like to serve as a member of the board of Overeaters Anonymous Region 9 because service has become an important part of my recovery, and I want to continue giving back to the Fellowship that has supported me both personally and spiritually.
I would like to serve as a member on the board of Region 9 OA because service is important to my
recovery and I would like to be a person who gives back to the Fellowship. While the Region helps others in their recovery I would like to help the Region by supporting, connecting and working with the Board. I believe that with work, dedication and compassion I can help the Board be the example that others need to regain freedom from disordered eating.
Brief account of my OA recovery story – physical, emotional, and spiritual
As a recovering addict of foods, it has taken a long road to get to the place that I am at today. Working through the 12 steps and my program daily I have regained my self esteem and a purpose for my life. Living the 12 steps daily has helped me to grow personally and I have a sense of purpose which I try to help others see daily.
I now suffer with several physical ailments that can be limiting but with the program behind me I am
persevering daily. I no longer look at food to be the cure of me.
Though I have a long way to go, I keep climbing higher, holding to my higher power knowing that I am not perfect but continue to grow daily.
