November 2025 to March 2026

Serving Region 9 continues to be both a joy and a true privilege. Over time, I have felt a growing sense of responsibility, and with it, greater confidence in carrying out this service role. None of this would be possible without the incredible support and fellowship of my fellow trusted servants — each member of the Region 9 Board and the wider service community. I am very grateful for the unity, encouragement, and kindness I experience with every person who serves alongside me, their support and honesty inspires me every day.

During the past 5 months I continued to work actively for the Region 9 Board, organizing and attending all meetings, preparing the agendas and ensuring that our meetings were conducted in an orderly and respectful manner.

Putting principles before personalities is not always easy; it is a continuous learning process. As chair, it is my responsibility to ensure that business is conducted in accordance with our bylaws and policy manual. In a recent situation regarding a Delegate Support Fund application, I found myself relying on my 10th steps, prayer, and guidance from more experienced members to find balance and clarity.

The application had been submitted by a service board to the administrative email instead of the treasurer’s email. Because the administrative account is not actively monitored, the submission was unfortunately missed, even though it had been submitted correctly and on time. The requested amount was USD 2,727. When we found out the World Service Office’s deadline had passed and this service body would have been unable to send a delegate to the World Service Business Conference. After seeking advice from Trustees and the Region Chairs Committee, and after carefully reviewing our Region’s finances, we determined that funding this service body would not significantly impact our budget. The Board unanimously decided to fund this service, recognizing that had there been an automatic response on the administrative email, this mistake would likely have been avoided.

I always try to do my best, responding promptly to inquiries and being present whenever I am invited to attend events or workshops. It is important to me to be there for our members, to listen, to support, and to share as much as I can.

As we prepare for the World Service Business Conference, I have once again invited all Region 9 Delegates to join our Region 9  World Service Business Conference Team. This gives us a chance to prepare together, share our experience, strength, and hope, and offer encouragement and support to every member of Region 9 attending this significant event.

I continue to participate on the Region Chairs Committee, and this year I have the honor of serving as co-chair. It brings me great joy to work alongside my fellow Region Chairs, sharing ideas and learning from one another, while also embracing the challenge of gently helping the wider fellowship understand the unique circumstances and needs of Region 9.

I also work closely with our Trustee Liaison, discussing the needs of our Region and the challenges faced by our affiliated service bodies and groups. I am grateful for our co-operation and her support and for the opportunity to ensure that our region’s voice is heard and our members are supported.

The progress of the Region as a Service Body is remarkable! There are many willing members eager to offer service. Our committees are working intensively to create the foundations we need so that we can support other members and other countries in carrying the message of recovery. Region 9 is slowly but steadily growing stronger and becoming more organized.

The role of chair carries significant responsibility, and at times the volume of tasks has been substantial. I have occasionally found it challenging to balance priorities and manage the workload effectively. While there is always room for improvement and prioritization, I believe I have served Region 9 faithfully, responsibly, and in the spirit of our Principles.

With love for our Region
