News and Announcements Coordinator Report

My main responsibility as News and Announcements Coordinator is assembling  the News and Announcements page for the Region 9 website. 

Since the last assembly, the page has mainly shared events and announcements from Step Ahead and oa.org, making this information easier for our fellows to find. These updates help keep Region 9 visible to everyone. Nearly every week, news, event invitations, workshops, literature, podcasts, and translations are being published. I am very happy to announce that recovery stories have now begun to be published on our website. These stories are kindly shared by members who responded to the Active Outreach Committee’s call. We have collected them over the past months, as our dedicated members have been involved in numerous service activities.

Although my service can sometimes appear solitary, it is actually a very connecting experience. It keeps me in contact with fellows across the Region. I don’t just receive their news—I read it carefully and try to present it in a way that is clear, engaging, and inviting, so members are encouraged to visit our website.

This service gives me a meaningful opportunity to practice the program s principles. The sense of safety, acceptance, and trust I experience motivates me to continue. I see that my efforts are valued, as I continue learning. Each day, information flows in from across Region 9 and other regions, I pass it on to the Digital Officer and the Chair of the Digital Committee, and this shared process helps bring us all together. Thanks to the Digital Committee, these News and Announcements are regularly circulated via email to service bodies and ultimately to members throughout the Region. 

In my role, I also have the privilege of being part of the Digital Committee, something I deeply appreciate. Through this role, I have also become more comfortable with technology and expanded my skills by working with tools I hadn’t previously used. The annual assembly and the upcoming spring assembly open my eyes to new possibilities, and I’m thankful for the chance to express creativity through this work.
