Translation & Interpretation Committee Report

The Assembly will be start at 8am on Wednesday 30th of September, in order to feel refreshed we enourage members to arrive Tuesday 29th of September in the late afternoon or early evening. The assembly will finish around 4pm on Friday 2nd October 2026. Convention will then start on Friday 2nd October 2026 in the early evening and finish no later than 2pm on Sunday 4th October 2026.

The Committee is launching an outreach initiative to Service Bodies and Intergroups, asking them to identify their literature translation needs. Our goal is to gather information regarding the specific challenges these service bodies face when translating literature.

The committee has also taken the initiative, under the banner of ‘The Power of WE’, to collect the Serenity Prayer in as many languages as possible. Region 9 represents not only a vast geographical area, but also rich cultural and linguistic diversity. At the request of the National Service Body of Poland, we will create such a map for the upcoming Region 9 Assembly.

We are also continuing to work on the creation of a plain-language translation manual. This guide for Region 9 will outline where to find translation information, whom to contact for assistance, and how the entire translation process works—from the initial decision to the final printing of the literature. The work was partially suspended due to License No. 2 being blocked by the World Service Office. Currently, the license is available again, and we can continue our efforts to prepare the guide.
