World Service Business Conference Delegate

This is my second year as World Service Business Conference delegate for OA Region 9, in 2024 I attended in person as the delegate for Red Dragon intergroup and in previous years in my capacity as Region Chair. Last year I sat on the Reference Sub-committee and went to serve on the Bylaws committee, acting in capacity as chair of the “Everyone has a Voice” subcommittee throughout the year.

I am really excited to be representing OA Region 9 again this year, sitting on Reference Sub-committee once more and also standing for Trustee while I am at it.

The reason that I really enjoy Reference Sub-committee, although it involves long hours of work, is that it really supports the maker of the motion to make the best case and stand the best chance of their motion being well met at the conference. I find the Reference Sub-committee to be extremely spiritual and it never feels like a chore to me. 

It is always an honour to serve OA Region 9 and to attend the Conference. Along with Region 10 and the Virtual Region, Region 9 is the growing, evolving edge of Overeaters Anonymous; often we may feel sidelined or excluded from the over-culture of OA which has certain demographics over-represented and minorities under-represented. Region 9 is such a dynamic and diverse region we have so much to offer OA as a whole and I really love the challenges and opportunities for recovery that the World Service Business Conference offers.
