Region 9 Trustee Liason Updates
Dear Region 9 Fellows,
Here is some news from the World Service Office.
- The Public Awareness/Professional Tradeshows Committee of the OA Board of Trustees has released a memo advising service bodies of an option for a free software platform that offers licensed images, translation, and graphic design tools. The memo, Free Licensed Images, Translation, and Graphic Design Platform for Intergroups and Service Boards Registered as Nonprofits/Charities has been issued to help service bodies comply with copyright laws that apply to images used on service body websites, as well as to inform non-English-speaking service bodies of a resource to translate OA materials that have significant graphic design elements, such as slide shows and flyers. Additionally, this solution can help service bodies access graphic design tools to create attractive flyers, social media posts, and other materials to carry the message. The third-party option mentioned in this memo is not endorsed by OA and service bodies are free to search for alternate solutions. Each OA group and service body is autonomous and legally responsible for its own print and digital media content. We thank service bodies for their diligence in protecting OA from copyright infringement.
- A new document, Sample Policies and Procedures for Intergroups and Other Service Bodies, has been posted in the Document Library on oa.org. This comprehensive template helps intergroups and other service bodies establish or refine the ways they officially function. Download the Sample Policies and Procedures today and discover clear definitions of key terms, examples of common policies and procedures, and practical decision-making advice for all service bodies.
- Οn the 5th of January, 2025 (Sunday) the 2nd set of Conference e-documents will be available on the OA website for delegates and service bodies (including proposed New Business Motions and Bylaw Amendments, Agenda Questionnaire, registration materials).
- The Seventh Tradition of OA, OA’s free downloadable pamphlet on the ins and outs of contributions within our Fellowship, now reflects an updated policy change adopted by the Board of Trustees. OA now recommends that groups send 50 percent of their contributions to their intergroup or service body, while forwarding ten percent to their region and 40 percent to the World Service Office. Find the free Seventh Tradition of OA pamphlet either in the Document Library on oa.org under category “Seventh Tradition” or in our OA online bookstore at bookstore.oa.org.
- Τhe second set of World Service Business Conference (WSBC) 2025 e-documents are now posted on OA’s Conference web page at https://oa.org/world-service-business-conference/.
