65 Years of Overeaters Anonymous: A Celebration in Greece

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the 12th Step Within Committee of the Greek National Service Board (GNSB) held an online meeting to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of Overeaters Anonymous, with the theme: “65 Years of Overeaters Anonymous – Anniversary of the Founding of the Fellowship”. The meeting was attended by 72 members from all over Greece and was a real celebration for all Overeaters Anonymous.

The meeting was divided into two parts. In the first part, the Chair of the GNSB welcomed all members and after that the Chairs of the 10 committees that exist and belong to the Greek National Service Board as well as the delegates to Region 9 and delegates to the World Service Conference made a presentation of the actions they intend to carry out this year. In this way, all members were given the opportunity to be informed about what the Greek National Service Board committees are, what the purpose of these committees is and the actions that will be taken and thus be empowered to participate in them by offering service at a level beyond their groups/intergroups, thus utilizing the important tool of the service.

The second part of the meeting was healing. A text from Roseanne’s story was read and then the members shared on the question: What was my life like before and after OA? It was a beautiful celebration that allowed members to come closer, to hear sharing from members from all over Greece, and in this way to strengthen the feeling of belonging to the fellowship.”
