Board Report – Treasurer
The Assembly will be held on the 18th of May from 2 pm to 7 pm UK time
Actions since Region 9 Assembly 2024
- Deposited 7th tradition monies from assembly into the Region 9 account.
- Rikki I., outgoing treasurer, sent me all supporting files to do with the treasury position to help me with requirements for the job, great backup for me to do the job perfectly.
- Reorganised the treasurer Google e-mail account sorting information into folders to manage emails as they arrive.
- Sent out approval letter at Rikki I.’s instruction to the Delegate Support Fund applicants to let them know Region 9 will cover their Virtual World Service Business Conference registration costs directly with the World Service Office.
- Collated a list of Region 9 delegates (six) and Delegate Support Fund delegates (five). Arranged a bulk payment to World Service Office for their virtual registration.
- Arranged to send down payment deposit for the Region 9 main Assembly in Paris.
- Completed year end reconciliation for the 1st June 2023 to the 31st May 2024.
- Appointed Verdant Accountants to prepare and file accounts for the year ended 31st May 2024 with the Charity Commission for the newly created Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
- I have attended monthly worldwide treasurers meetings on zoom. We updated the treasurer guidelines document; went over the new contribution percentages to combat declining literature sales and subsequent World Service Office budget shortfalls (the new contribution percentages: 50% to intergroups/service boards; 40% to world service, and 10% to region respectively) and discussed general support from treasurers worldwide.
- Prepared all expense claims as they arrive at the treasury email requesting further documentation if needed to support their claim; making sure all receipt and payment instructions are correct, and then arranging prompt payment once approved by Region 9 chair.
Personal note
- As the Heart of England intergroup treasurer I enjoyed giving back to fellowship through service, carrying the message to the still suffering compulsive overeater. Working a 12 step recovery utilising workbooks; CAL, meetings and giving service to Region 9 I have strengthened my own recovery. Principles alongside service affirms my clean life leaving bad food behaviour patterns behind whilst achieving greater recovery as a result. I’m loving being your treasurer and I’m thankful you voted me in to give service beyond my wildest dreams.
