Guidelines of the Committee:
Educating about structures of service in more languages
Using the Service Traditions and Concepts pptx presentation as a support to workshops – already available in Italian and Spanish. Nima translated it in Farsi. Intending to translate it in French and other Region 9 languages.
Allowing time for Questions & Answers in workshops after powerpoint presentation
We met in 2023: December 9, in 2024: January 13, February 3, (February 24 cancelled), July 5.
We hosted in English only a ”What is OA?” 1,5 hour Virtual Workshop where Emilia created a flyer and spoke on the STC powerpoint presentation February 17. Up to 35 people attended.
The need of having a Zoom account enabling live interpretation and close caption translation features was made clear, and acknowledged by Region 9 board.
We suggested Region 9 joined their forces to the Virtual Region in co-hosting two Steps (unfortunately not Service, my mistake) Traditions and Concepts 4,5 hour workshops July 27 and July 28, using a powerpoint presentation different from the ”What is OA?” one. Each of these two workshops offered in live interpretation in several languages of Region 9: French, Spanish, Greek, Farsi, Arabic, German and Polish.

We asked for interpreters volunteering within the Region 9 officers / Committees / WhatsApp groups / WhatsApp community / individual members from other Region 9 countries who speak English. We got precious support from the Greek fellows.
We set up a dedicated WhatsApp temporary group for Greek interpreters and the Virtual Region provided on July 25 a 1 hour ”meet and train” interpretation training for the Greek interpreters team.
Up to 50 fellows attended the July 27 Steps Traditions and Concepts workshop.
Up to 90 fellows attended the July 28 Steps Traditions and Concepts workshop.
I asked the Virtual Region chair for further help in training me + other willing Region 9 members on how to enable / use Zoom interpretation feature / close caption translation feature.
We are still hoping to be able to host before Region 9 2024 Assembly a second Service Tradition and Concept workshop similar to the February 17 one, hopefully providing live interpretation in several languages.
Next planned meeting: to be defined, really hoping it can be before Region 9 Assembly
