Motion: Move to send £1500 pound to world service for the OA Find a Meeting Campaign.

Implementation: Request that the treasurer send £1500 to the OA Find A meeting Campaign.

Rationale:

1. Supporting OA’s Primary Purpose – The OA Find a Meeting Campaign is a core World Service Initiative designed to help compulsive overeaters locate—and participate in—meetings wherever they are. By contributing £1,500 to this campaign, Region 9 directly furthers our primary purpose of carrying the message of recovery to those who still suffer.
2. Alignment with Region 9’s Strategic Goals
   1. Active Outreach: Region 9’s Strategic Plan emphasizes broadening access to OA—especially in under-served areas across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Funding the Find a Meeting tool accelerates public awareness and drives traffic to our website’s meeting locator.
   2. Digital Inclusivity: Many members in Region 9 rely exclusively on online meetings due to language barriers, mobility issues, or geographical isolation. The Find a Meeting Campaign funds the ongoing improvement of meeting-finder features (e.g., multi-language interface, time-zone filters), ensuring our digital services meet diverse regional needs.
   3. Benefits to the Region 9 Digital Committee: The Region 9 Digital Committee works in partnership with World Service. An infusion of campaign funds allows us to better serve members in our Region and beyond.
3. Why This Is Important for Region 9
   1. Region 9 has seen a marked increase in newcomers who prefer to locate meetings online before committing. Investing in the Find a Meeting tool ensures we capture—and welcome—those who might otherwise drop away before finding us.
   2. With over 60 countries in Region 9, centralized digital infrastructure helps level the playing field—ensuring members in smaller or emerging areas have visibility alongside long-established meetings.
   3. A well-maintained, widely-publicized meetings directory fosters connection among OA groups across borders, reinforcing the sense of a single, global Fellowship.
4. Financial Stewardship – The requested £1,500 represents a prudent allocation—covering specific development and promotional costs without diverting funds from other vital Region 9 activities.

In summary, this motion empowers Region 9 to:

• Help OA’s mission by making meetings easier to find.
• Enhance the digital tools the Region 9 Digital Committee is already supporting.
• Promote equity, unity, and growth across our geographically dispersed communities.

For these reasons, we urge adoption of the motion to send £1,500 to World Service’s Find a Meeting Campaign.
